Why it’s time to switch to an energy-efficient HVAC system

Today, many are looking to incorporate eco-friendly alternatives into their daily lifestyles. With the climate crisis worsening and populations growing, this has become especially pressing in recent years.

As an effort for change, many homeowners are switching to greener appliances and fixtures to simultaneously practice eco-responsibility and boost their home’s HVAC efficiency.

In this blog post, we’ve listed a few benefits of making the switch. We’ll also go over the Inflation Reduction Act and how certain tax credits can benefit homeowners.

The benefits of an energy-efficient HVAC systems

One of the many benefits of owning greener HVAC systems is the boost to your home’s property value. Since your HVAC system will use energy more efficiently, the amount paid in bills will decrease. Many potential buyers will see value in this since investing in a new home is already costly, so any chance to save money can be worth a higher initial cost.

Along with HVAC efficiency, another thing many homeowners are likely to be interested in is any possible tax breaks, credits, or rebates. Many governments across the United States offer tax benefits to homeowners that switch to greener HVAC alternatives.

What is the Inflation Reduction Act?

The Inflation Reduction Act aims to fight inflation and help reduce carbon emissions by at least 40% by 2030. The Act encourages and invests in domestic energy production, helping home and business owners switch to greener energy and maximize HVAC efficiency.

Along with creating cleaner, more affordable energy to better the environment, the Act is also meant to help small businesses and encourage the creation of well-paying jobs.

How the Inflation Reduction Act affects homeowners

To provide more of an incentive for homeowners to invest in high-efficiency heating and cooling, the Act includes a tax credit program.

From the start of 2023 to the end of 2032, homeowners can get up to 30% of their HVAC system’s installation costs covered, for up to $1,200 saved in installation costs. For heat pumps specifically, you can receive up to $2,000.

Any furnaces and air conditioners with high heating and cooling energy efficiency will give you a credit of $600 each.
